FAQ: o2 Sensor Simulator wiring
i did my own and it works so i thought id finally end the questions.
Where to buy?? http://www.o2sensorsimulator.c...ndard
TOOLS: 7/8" wrench or o2 sensor socket (autozone $10) and ratchet, phillips head screwdriver, wire stippers, 3 wire connectors, electrical tape, jack, and jack stand.
locate and remove the secondary o2 sensor from the exhaust pipe and disconnect harness (rubber piece will be attached to wiring and DO NOT REMOVE THIS).
note location of each wire color on the harness. DO NOT CUT WIRES!!
looking at o2 side of harness numbered
1 2
3 4
corresponding colors to numbers
1) GRN/WHT (on Y5 & Y8 engines, Y7 is RED/YEL)
2) WHT/RED
3) BLK/WHT
4) BLK/WHT
NOTE: pic is labeled wrong. the 2 black wires are reversed.
(thanks for image dwnthehatch)
NOTE: #4 wire is not used for this so do NOT cut this wire.
now push the rubber piece toward sensor til it stops.
locate WHT/RED wire, leaving wire on each side to work with, cut this wire ONLY!!
on harness side of cut, attach the Signal wire of the simulator (mine was YEL) with connector.
next locate the GRN/WHT (RED/YEL on Y7), again leaving enough wire on each side, cut and attach the Ground wire from Simulator to these and reconnect all three wires together.
next locate the BLK/WHT wire in LOCATION 3. cut and attach the Power wire of the Simulator and reattach all three wires together.
wrap all connection in electrical tape.
now go on inside of car, on the floor in the center under the dash there is a plastic piece with a plastic screw in it
remove screw and pull plastic piece out. under the carpet you will find the other end of the o2 sensor harness and hole in floor.
insert o2 sensor down through hole and push rubber piece through also. reconnect the harness, put rubber piece back in place in hole, and reattach o2 sensor to exhaust pipe.
Vwala. no more secondary o2 sensor check engine light.
if simulator is equipped with light, it will NOT stay a constant brightness as it is getting differnt flow of power.
would have taken more pics but cam is broke

Re: FAQ: o2 Sensor Simulator wiring (ballplayer)
i dont know as all tests are different. it will where i live because the test on 96+ vehicles is basically to see if you CEL is on. if its not throwing any codes, you pass.

Would this work if you don't have the second o2 sensor. (Converted to OBD1, but i use the obd2 ecu for emission testing).

Re: FAQ: o2 Sensor Simulator wiring (98HB)
they require a singled out wire that is for the signal only like on the 4 wire ones. so if you got the wires from the 4 wire still hooked up then i would say it would work but would not on a 1 wire sensor.
i am not positive it will work without the sensor

Re: FAQ: o2 Sensor Simulator wiring (e jay one)
yeah basically i got it because my hi flow cat keeps kicking the CEL for the o2 sensor. this was only way to keep cat and fix CEL for me. i know some other people that have similar problems with exhaust and o2 sensors

Re: FAQ: o2 Sensor Simulator wiring (civictildeath)
Question, I know a few places it said the 2nd o2 sensor was just to see if the cat is cleaning the air... is that true, by getting this it will not affect gas milage and such?

Re: FAQ: o2 Sensor Simulator wiring (deadlock32)
You're right about the secondary o2 detecting whether the cat is functioning properly or not. The primary and secondary o2's work together. IF the cat is bad and having that rotten egg smell mostly due to a bad fuel mix, the secondary o2 would throw a code sensing that the cat has taken a **** which in turn would make the primary o2 readjust the mixture. THe o2 sim will trick the ICM into thinking you have a functioning cat connected when in fact you don't. Since you have a supposed working cat then no mixture would be readjusted thus having the same gas mileage has before
