i dont understand
the CX and VX are the same weight, yet the vx has 13" lightweight alloys, while the cx has 13" steelies...
where is the difference in weight that makes the total weight the same?
are 13" steelies the same weight as alloys?

i agree taking an si and stripping it is kinda pointless...
the reason an si has that si badge is because of the features your stripping...
if u want a light car why dont u sell the si, buy a cx and pocket some cash..
and i agree, taking a b18c and turboing it stupid... i mean u proly paid out the *** for that engine.. and your gonna be taking anything out of it that makes it worth what it is... ud be better off turboing a b18b with a vtec conversion... the whole reason b18c's are what they are is cause theyre built from the factory.. low compression for na...
now this thread seems to be getting a little off topic.. its a weight topic, theres no need to argue over whos the better person here..
leave the thread with knowledge and not bitching.. no ones gonna learn anything reading about you guys talking about whos smarter
and si with sway bars from the factory? i dont understand.. wheres my sway bars
EDIT:
i dont think there is CDM cars... they might be made for/in canada.. but theyre essentially the same as usdm.. just with a jdm cluster y0

92 CX GSR turbo = 2300lbs
93 CX H22 turbo = 2310lbs
both cars have no rear panels, rear seats, same roll cage, and no pass seats.

Re: Let's Get This Weight Thing Straight for the 1992-1995 Hatchbacks, Damn It! (kidruk)
Can somebody help me figure this out....
1993 Honda Civic DX CPE MT 2224
1993 Honda Civic DX CPE AT 2317
What makes the AUTO DX coupe 93 lbs heavier?
My guess is A/C and Power Steering, but that's only about 50 lbs
What else is there?
(I have an AUTO 93 DX Coupe which I am converting to 5speed and really want to get rid of the extra 93 lbs)

Thanks for the reply, I didn't know the automatic transmission weighs that much more.
I will put it on a scale when I take it out and post the weight.

Re: FAQ: Let's Get This Weight Thing Straight for the 1992-1995 Hatchbacks, Damn It!
Can someone explain to me why the 92-93 Civic DX M/T weighs 38lbs less than the '94-'95 Civic DX M/T? I realize the '94-'95 civics all have dual airbags but I don't believe that would cause the vehicle to weigh 38lbs MORE!
Also why is it that the '94-'95 Civic LX M/T weighs a whopping 84lbs more than the '92-'93 versions?
Here are the weights I got off of wikipedia:
Sedan
'92-'93 DX M/T 2,275 lb (1,032 kg)
'94-'95 DX M/T 2,313 lb (1,049 kg)
'92-'93 LX M/T 2,319 lb (1,052 kg)
'94-'95 LX M/T 2,403 lb (1,090 kg)
Did they add more tar or something? Would a service manual be able to explain the changes they made to each model year? Where could I find such information?

Re: FAQ: Let's Get This Weight Thing Straight for the 1992-1995 Hatchbacks, Damn It!
I may have missed it, but every year that honda's are made they get heavier, 92 is less than 93 and 93 is less than 94 and so on, each year honda, civic, coupe, hatch, 4door, ect, they all got heavier, thats why a 95 civic will be about 300lbs more than a 92. Not sure about JDM cars, but factory USDM cars get heavier every year. just an FYI, mainly b/c of small things for safety, I guess 95 is safer than 92??????????? just question (no need to answer)

Re: FAQ: Let's Get This Weight Thing Straight for the 1992-1995 Hatchbacks, Damn It!
I see you listed the 92 Veh. here's the rest, and yea every year every honda got just alittle bit heavier.
FYI: Curb weight (US English) or Kerb weight (UK/Commonwealth English) is the total weight of a vehicle with standard equipment, all necessary operating consumables (e.g. motor oil and coolant), a full tank of fuel, while not loaded with either passengers or cargo.
Sedan
'92-'93 DX M/T 2,275 lb (1,032 kg)
'94-'95 DX M/T 2,313 lb (1,049 kg)
'92-'93 DX A/T 2,343 lb (1,063 kg)
'94-'95 DX A/T 2,392 lb (1,085 kg)
'92-'93 LX M/T 2,319 lb (1,052 kg)
'94-'95 LX M/T 2,403 lb (1,090 kg)
'92-'93 LX A/T 2,388 lb (1,083 kg)
'94-'95 LX A/T 2,456 lb (1,114 kg)
'92-'93 EX M/T 2,480 lb (1,125 kg)
'94-'95 EX M/T 2,522 lb (1,144 kg)
'92-'93 EX A/T 2,524 lb (1,145 kg)
'94-'95 EX A/T 2,575 lb (1,168 kg)
Coupe
'92-'93 DX M/T 2,224 lb (1,009 kg)
'94-'95 DX M/T 2,231 lb (1,012 kg)
'92-'93 DX A/T 2,317 lb (1,051 kg)
'94-'95 DX A/T 2,326 lb (1,055 kg)
'92-'93 EX M/T 2,390 lb (1,084 kg)
'94-'95 EX M/T 2,522 lb (1,144 kg)
'92-'93 EX A/T 2,445 lb (1,109 kg)
'94-'95 EX A/T 2,575 lb (1,168 kg)
Hatchback
'92-'95 DX M/T 2,178 lb (988 kg)
'92-'93 DX A/T 2,275 lb (1,032 kg)
'94-'95 DX A/T 2,264 lb (1,027 kg)
'92-'93 CX M/T 2,094 lb (950 kg)
'94-'95 CX M/T 2,108 lb (956 kg)
'92-'95 VX M/T 2,094 lb (950 kg)
'92-'93 Si M/T 2,326 lb (1,055 kg)
'94-'95 Si M/T 2,390 lb (1,084 kg)
I could be wrong, but im sure the reason for each year getting heaiver is b/c US standers of Veh. safety are increasing more and more, as well as different options, abs brakes/d, air bags, bigger wheels, and little things like interior parts, ect. I don't know which Veh. have which options, and Im sure that if you added options with a new honda back in 19whatever you may be off by a few pounds, visa versa.

I’ve been thinking of getting a 92 - 95 Civic si.
From reading about the weight distribution that you mentioned...
A stock CX hatch beats a stock Civic Si???

we're talking ~200 pounds. for what you get with an si vs a cx stock for stock, it's 200lbs well worth it. these are LIGHT cars by any standard. shave a couple pounds off by taking a solid dump and skipping your next burger

Re: FAQ: Let's Get This Weight Thing Straight for the 1992-1995 Hatchbacks, Damn It!
I apologize but which one is faster then?
Also, which one would you rather pick the? CX or Si?
i want an Si mainly because the branding “Si” (is that a bad thing?) and the rarity that comes with it. It’s hard to find one nowadays and even harder to find one stock...
I think I need more points before I can post a thread in WTB!
Edit: added more questions.

Re: FAQ: Let's Get This Weight Thing Straight for the 1992-1995 Hatchbacks, Damn It!
You're not going to find a stock 5th generation Civic Si. The question of "what trim model is the fastest" is pretty much irrelevant due to this reason.
