Default FAQ: HOW-TO remove sound deadening. go on a diet with dry ice.[pics]

this will answer all you questions on how to remove your sound deadening in you civic

this will i no way hurt your undercoating.

first start by removing your seats and carpet you will need...
10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm, Philips and maybe a small flat head.

then you will need to go and buy dry ice. i cost me 0.77 a pound and i bought 20 pounds. and it was way more than enough. use gloves when handling this, its damn cold(-109).

heres my bad *** ford gloves.

now let it sit with a good amount on one area. i found it works best to work on one area at a time.

you will find it will break off in huge chunks and very easy to do. just put a large flat head or putty knife on the edge and hit it with your hand.

grab a large grabage bag and start filling it up.

after about a hour i was done...

the results...
i weigh 167.5

holding the bag i weigh 187

NET Weight... 19.5

now you can play with the rest of the dry ice.

now put every thing back in and enjoy.
Mods, i hope you can put this in the FAQ sense the other one wont work.

I was always disappointed with the weight results with this project.

Great writeup though!

-35C* and a pry bar ftw! now i just have to "goo-gone" the remaining adhesive. Look at how little gunk is left on the metal when its that cold out! i tried cleaning the interior metal with degreaser and it froze right to it!!! its time for an interior respray !!!

good writeup

would you mind doing me a favor next time you're under your car? Check your undercoat and see if it let up or shrivled up at all

I've always wondered if dryice messes up the undercoat.

Otherwise nice deal!

if you take out every thing it makes a big difference.

I've heard that 100lbs is like a tenth on an 1/8th maybe? So, not much if that's true. I'm not stating that as a fact, and don't want to be flamed!!!

I heard every 100lbs is .1 off a 1/4 time, that was word of mouth though.

That is an injury resulting from a dry bomb mishap. So, you might want to think twice about doing that. Imagine if that hit him in the eye!
