Default fan switch keeps going bad? help

went to the track. fan switch went bad. over heated. got home, put one in from my 95 z6 block... about 5 days later. here i am... as soon as i got on it hard, bam stopped working again..

what could make this crap keep screwing up on me.

running a D16Y7 with greddy kit... about 7.5psi, greddy blue box, slight spark knock. if that has anything to do with it at all. i dont want to keep blowing $ on these and have em break. thanks

I wonder how you could tap in a light that lights up when the fan goes on. If anyone has any idea how you could do that, let me know!

im thinking your fan relay is malfunctioning, not the switch itself.

when troubleshooting electronics, u gotta go down the circuit and eliminate variables. good luck

but as soon as i put in a new switch, it works again.? is the relay killing the switches when i redline it? i dont even see why it would have anything to do with it?

ok. update:

hardwired the fan to a switch in the car. just cut the harness right before the plug at the fan and soldered in my own new wires.

went for a ride, got on it a little in 2nd, about a mile down the road, over heats.

so i got to my gf's, unplugged the relay, and poured the coolant from the overflow back into the radiator....plug the relay back in about 5 min later, go for a ride about 25 minutes normal driving. no toruble.

sitting idling tonight in a driveway with the fan running, after about 10 min w/ heat off... started to raise again.

possibly a bad relay, or thermostat? this is getting old. and could it have messed something up by cutting the wires on the harness for the fan plug to hardwire it?
