Fake price on Bill of Sales
i am going to buy a car and i am thinking of asking the seller if i can put the purchase price of the car like half the ammount of what im paying so i dont have to pay as much tax. Can this effect me in a bad way? Should i only trust the seller to do this..cuz i dont wanna get screwed.

i said that i paid 1,000 for my 95 coupe 2 years ago when i really paid 5 and somehow the gov't checked it out and the guy that sold it to me said that his was threatened by the gov't somehow about lying and she told them the realprice for some reason and i got a $500 fine....... point is make sure dude is cool about it if your gonna lie about bill of sale

i heard its fine... but i heard that if you put the price really low to too low the people at the dmv can get fishy and check the tru value of the car and just tax the true value rather then the price on the bill of sale. Thats just what i have heard

when i buy my cars on the side i always ask them to leave it blank there for i can just put like 500 bucks or 300 bucks and only pay like 70 bucks for tax

if the price seems low on the title, just tell the clerk you are a mechanic and the car is a basket case you plan to restore. it will justify the low price.

i did the same thing i payed 2000 for my h/b but i put 1200 on the tax thing, in NJ i think if you put that you sold the car for less than 1200 they send you a letter with some fee about something, i forgot exactly what it was...

a guy down the street sold me his 92 civic hatch dx for $1800. He actually suggested to me, that if i pay him in cash, rather than check... he'd sell it to me for 50$ on the bill of sale. That worked for me... he doesnt have to claim the money, cuz it wasnt a check.. and i dont pay tax. It works out better for both seller and buyer, as long as you both get your storys straight.

Every1 I know does the same thing, just gotta watch out for some ppl, also here in WV, it doesn't matter what a bill of sale says unless its notorized, you have to pay taxes on blu book, even on a damn $50 parts car!

just make sure the guy will vouch for the price you write down...
I said I bought my 95 teg for 1500 and the gov't checked on it... the guy told them the real price and i was fined 200 bucks
just make sure it isn't too cheap... and make sure you both have your stories straight

Re: Fake price on Bill of Sales (GetSmoked)
I tried to get my car as a gift so i didnt have to pay taxes but in PA you have to pay tax on the retail value of the vehicle. Luckily for some reason the came up with 1,000$ retail for my 97 civic coupe?

Re: Fake price on Bill of Sales (GetSmoked)
Seems to be common practice for all motor vehicles. I'm wondering how much if any this impacts Kelly Blue Book, Edmunds etc value amounts ? Do they compile State Motor vehicle licence/sales info for their supposed market values ?

Re: Fake price on Bill of Sales (GetSmoked)
why do that when you dont even need a bill of sale to get the car registered??
just give the guy the money (ofcoarse make sure the car runs as you want it to)
then go to the dmv or AAA and tell them your cousin gave you the car as a gift. and you a value of the car in a box dont get ridiculous .
ofcoarse this is tax fraud so you run the risk if someone finds out. but i know people who do it this way for the past 9 years and never a problem. << no not me.
