Default failed inspection for lights/exhaust in NJ

I just got my car inspected in southern NJ and failed for having "colored lights" (my bulbs are sylvanias and arent overly bright/annoying) and also for having a "loud exhaust" well, i know that my exhaust (skunk 2) isnt as loud/raspy as a lot of otehrs out there and they didnt even rev it up, so is there any way i can prove to them that it meets DB level, and i could always switch out my bulbs i guess

I say switch out the bulbs and try another inspection station for the exhaust. My buddy works at inspection stations in middlesex county and with the dB level issue it just depends on the mood of the attendant. And if its the beginning or end of the month. During that time they will try and catch everybody for everything.

damn, you guys are lucky that your state still goes with the db law. mine outruled that law and made it a "no modified exhaust" system.. PERIOD.

the headlights are legal. if they are sliverstars.. they are legal. you can show them the box that the blubs came in

Put back a set of stock H-4's. My Toyota Tacoma passes exhaust inspection with no problems. Its a full cat-back Borla exhaust, not that its really that loud.

Wait wait wait. Is this safety or emissions inspection. How the hell would the size of your exhaust make you fail safety? That inspector is full of **** and is on a power trip.

Also, I think I read somewhere that the lights emitted from the front of you car can be amber, yellow or white.

Go somewhere else, that's not even an inspection issue.

I'm from central Jersey and being failed for friggin lightbulbs is annoying. I have the xenon bulbs from Hyper Industries and they have a blue tint to them, so I guess that's easy to spot and dock me for it. But just switch them out and switch them back, that's what I do and it's simple.

Funny that they didn't fail me for my tinted taillights though <-- see avatar

And loud exhaust? That's bullshit. Like already stated, just go somewhere else.

here in CA and im sure in your state as well, it will not matter what the db level is if it is posted on a site saying its legal and meets the requirements. they will do the db level test themself.

here is a picture of my test results
stock ls w/ apexi n1 full catback
took the test w/ a silencer on and was lucky they didnt notice
