i'm sure you guys know where i'm going with this vx(or hx maybe) sensor and a afg= cheap wide band o2, any one ever tried this?

Standard 4-wire O2 sensors can generate a voltage all on their own. You can put them in a bench vise, use a torch to heat it up and use a voltmeter to observe its output.
5-wire wideband O2's need a their own controller box. This circuitry is built into the ECU of the Vx and Hx models.
You can NOT use a 5-wire O2 with an ECU meant to interpret a 4-wire input and vice-versa.
You can look into the PLX Devices, Innovative, Tech Edge and I'm sure there are a few more available.
You should also look into a wideband controller than can uses the Bosch LSU4 sensor (I don't know which models above do, I just know they have a wideband offering). Its about 1/5 the cost of the NTK sensor (OEM Honda).
