Re: f22a / f23a (HXvtec)
I'm thinking about doin that cuz the engines are so cheap to buy. Plus I don't need too much power...have too many tickets already from speeding and other stuff. Just wondering: if someone put a bunch of money into a CX engine....how much potential could that have? I'm not thinking about doing this....just a question that I thought off.....

I've ridden in a cx hatch with ex tranny, ex intake manifold, dx exhaust manifold, no cat, and intake and it was still slower than a stock dx hatch.
If you choose to modify the cx motor, replace the head with a 16 valve head. (note, not all cx pistons have 4 valve reliefs, so you will have to pull the head and check before you go out and purchase another head).
I've also done a f23(from a '99 accord ex) into a '94 civic dx coupe. The swap process is almost identical to an h22 swap into a civic. It makes for a quick car too.
The f23 civic beat(badly) an h22 accord and did suprisingly well against a wrx with air filter and turbo back exhaust.
The only down side, I'd say, to the f23 swap is the lack of aftermarket support.

Now for the f23a...like what kinda tranny would u use...just a normal ex tranny? And is there mounts made for that or would they have to be completely custom? U know what that f23 civic was built with? Like parts wise. Just so I can look into swap and get moree information.

personally i love f23. i think it can create good power and its a single cam, which is what i like most about it. its a good swap to think about. i was also going to try this but theres a little thing called money that i dont have.

Well I'm leaning more towards the f23...get the engine for under 600 bux....I don't have that much...but enough..lol. So what kind of tranny should be used?

Like Slopoke said...it's basically like swapping in an H-Series. I've givin thought to doin an F23 instead of an H-series because I like rockin SOHC motors...it's more impressive when you beat a DOHC with one. If you were to go through with this swap...you can use an H-Series tranny. Get an H22 if you can...$400-600...or just get an H23 Tranny...$200-300. The shorter gears will make the car accelerate faster, and thus net better track times. After that...you can get bolt-on's or even get a turbo kit. Just don't boost much without tuning. I found somone that actually made a cam for the F23 awhile back...but I don't remember where. Good luck if you follow through with this.
My plan...
F23
H22 LSD Tranny
Custom turbo kit with T3/T4 70 trim turbo
KTeller 3in Exhaust into 3in ES Oval
And if the motor blew...Built block with RS Sleeves, Forged Rods, and 90mm(Guess of 3mm overbore) 10:1cr Forged Pistons. Thats gotta be one fast SOHC...hehehehe.

We used the f23 tranny, but you can use any F or H series tranny.
His civic used hcp mounts(for h22 swap), no name intake, no name header, and crappy non-mandrel bent exhaust(he was on a serious budget). We used an obd1 accord ex ecu, accord shift linkage, '90-'93 accord intermediate shaft and '90-'93 integra axles.
Pretty much all the typical h22 parts.

Re: f22a / f23a (H23 EG Hybrid)
i did an f22 out of a 92 acord into a 94 lx. get the hasport h22 mount kit and use the prelude h22 tranny and yes, its a very potent swap. running on 205/60/15 at 20 psi with a 2.25 exhaust and 3" intake runing consistent 14.2 at 95 mph. traction out of the hole was my problem. with slicks low 13's no problem.good luck man

if you know anyone with a prelude and is on PO...check out http://www.preludeonline.com. They have a good size classifieds section...just need an account which you have to pay for.

Re: f22a / f23a (EG_Civic_GSR)
f-series/h-series to b-series tranny adapters are coming out...maybe you should wait until they're out (they might be now not sure) and bolt a b-series tranny to the f23.
that way, if you're putting it into a eg, you won't need to buy the expensive h22 mounts. it will (this is from my research - obviously i havent done it yet) be like a b-series swap. i think you need to get a b-series driv side mount bracket and modify it to fit the f23.
the b-series tranny is lighter, better gearing, etc etc. the adapter plate kind of makes the f23 into a big big big b-series, minus one cam. i think i saw a price of $270 for the adapter kit and flywheel spacers.
