well the saying you get what you pay for isn't applicable to mufflers I can tell you that much. I had 3 different exhausts on my old hatch that are applicable to this situation. I had an n1 style muffler that came on the car when I bought it, the previous owner said it was about 2 years old...thinking with the thoughts of "you get what you pay for" and that a new muffler of a similar design might quiet things down a little bit I bought a true apexi n1 muffler, there was no difference in sound level or quality, added another resonator and then it was tolerable, ended up settling with the SNL twin loop muffler eskay sells which was even cheaper than the n1 style muffler that came on the car originally.

In short it's a muffler, whether you spend 200 or 60, the same design will sound the same or at least very close to it as the real thing, the only thing I'd be wary of is if it's really cheaply made the sound absorbing material may come apart as with really really cheap cats.

the longer the muffler, the quieter the muffler and the smaller the perforations inside the muffler have a lot to do with how quiet it is. as long as its not a glasspack you should be ok. glasspacks are insulated with fiberglass which burns up over time. good mufflers are insulated with a sort of steel wool which wont. so in short:

short muffler, large perforations = bumble bee.
longer muffler, small perforations = deep tone.

glasspack =
