exhuast question

Default exhuast question

after my test pipe was installed my exhaust stared making a weird rattling noise but it only happens when im doing over 50 and tonight when i was runnig my car it backfired in 2nd and 3rd gear im talking about flames does anybody know why my exhaust could me backfiring and making the that noise could it be the test pipe

well where there was once a catalytic converter is now a straight piece of pipe... i think you alrdy found the problem.

interesting so is that the reason why my exhaust makes a horrible rattling noise when im cruising on the highway or could it be somthing else

this seems too obvious but... a lose bolt from the install of it?

my cousin put on different bolts because the bolts of of the catylitic converter were to sort so he put some longer bolts in...so it's that its to loose or maye the bolts arent lining up correctly

quick question: why? don't mean to jack your thread and all, but why take the cat off? to gain .5 horsepower? i don't mean to sound like a tree hugger, but what you're contributing to pollution hardly warrants your car being obnoxiously loud and not faster. sorry, it's late...just my humble opinion. put the cat back on. if you want... i have a brand new, never used magnaflow 2.25" high flow OBD1 cat i'll sell you real cheap, lol.

wow mr. conservative tree hugger im not the only one contributing to the polution of our ozone if i took my catiylitic converter off thats me and thats what i wanted to do im sorry if you disaprove of taking off cats....and p.s. why would i buy your highfolw cat if i hav a invidia test pipe

he was pointing out a good point though. the test pipe does only add maybe .5 horsepower. i don't worry about the environment really just saying the gains are negligible.

well i noticed the gain once we bloted up the test pipe to my greddy exhaust so i like it test pipe =

You noticed 1hp? Damn your spidey senses must be tingling!!!!! Lol jk man.. But seriously, is the sound rattling or pinging? Like does it sound like metal on metal? Check any hangers or bolt spots that you might not be using, I had this happen before.

its ratteling like somthing is loose i checked my hanger's already and there fin ima go over the whole exhaust tomorow and make sure that all the bolts are tight hopefully it doesnt rain
