Exhaust Sizes
I want to have all of my exhaust system to have the same size tubing for the best possible flow, and I want to go 2.5" b/c I plan to do major engine work later and I don't want to buy 2 exhaust sytems. Anyway, what would I need to get so that I can have my header end with a 2.5" pipe, then connect to a 2.5" cat, then connect to a 2.5" cat-back exhaust??
I was thinking 2.5" car sound high-flow cat, to a custom mandrel-bent 2.5" cat-back, but I don't know what to do for my header options.
I have a 1997 civic ex with the stock d16y8 engine, what headers have the 2.5" pipe that I am looking for?? Also, what is it called?? Is it called the collector??
Thanks!!!!!

you need to research the D-series-motor header options, then work back from there. Actually I would vote or DC sports ceramic coated header (cheap) then an Apexi N1 catback (nicely made, quality sound too), but thats just my 2 cents.
......you have much to learn grasshopper......

Re: Exhaust Sizes (lshatchturbo)
I want to do something different tho. Everybody who is into hondas has a swap, or a turbo'd swap. I want to run an All-motor SOHC engine. I don't need to be the fastest guy out there, I just want to see what I can do with the SOHC.
I know it isn't the fastest, but I also drive a coupe with a full interior, not a gutted hatchback, so obviously all-out speed is not my first concern.
Peace

Re: Exhaust Sizes (Briman2021)
search the board here, there are a few links into a D series chat board, I dont remember the name though, but I bet the user MistaBone can hook you up with it.
LOL, people have only moved to swaps after a decade of tuning SOHC and getting tired with the lack of TORQUE.
really, if you want a fast and reliable setup with lots of aftermarket support, just gte a swap, you would be surprised how cheap (LS swaps at least) and how easy they are to finish if you get the right year motor with all of the parts needed at once.

I don't think you can do much with a sohc n/a unless ur willing to spend a ton of $$$$. That's why we're saying swap...because it would probably end up costing you the same, car would be just as fast, if not faster, and be more reliable. And you wouldn't need a "gutted" car. My hatch is full interior lol.
Anyways, good luck with ur decision. BTW, i think 2.5'' piping may be too much for ur setup. 2.25'' may be more ideal.

Re: Exhaust Sizes (RK)
Would I be able to get 2.25" from header back?? B/c I think the best way would be to have the same diameter piping all the way back, right?
From what I know about cars, having the same diameter would maintain exhaust velocity, right??
And about everyone having a swap, I meant everyone who is into performance. I just want to do something different, and a fast n/a SOHC would prob get a lot of respect, and it would be fast enoguh for me when I am done. I don't need to run 12's or anything.
Peace!!
