Exhaust rattle?
 

I just bought my 96 civic ex, and there is a rattle during low rpms. It sounds like it's coming from the exhaust, almost as if there is a hole in the pipe. It's not the heat shields, those have been checked. Anyone else have a similar problem?

what part of the exhaust are you hearing the sound from? Me and a few of my friends have had problems with the catalytic converter breaking from the header pipe and rattling inside of the heat shield, but you cant even notice it unless if you take the heat shield off.

Check the heat shields, check the connections between the downpipe and cat and between the cat and the b-pipe. Maybe you need a new gasket. I had the same problem and I took it to a local muffler shop. Cost me $25 for the new gasket including labor to replace it, but I'm sure you can DIY.

you may have a exhaust leak.. check the piping.

pull off the upper heat sheild. I had a crack in my stock manifold on my 99 Civic. Pretty common problem. It might still be under wrty if you're lucky . . .
