Exhaust question
ok i have a 97 ex. my catalytic converter broke off and i need it fixed. but i think its pointless to pay 100 or so in welds or 150 for a new converter. Since by the end of the summer i was plannin on buying a new exhaust system. The problem is, i kidna need the problem fixed nowish, and i only have about 2-300 dollars to work with...and i was wondering, any decent cat back exhausts in that price range. lookin for one that will last quite a while, and i would prefer one thats not mega loud, but decently quite and low sounding. any ideas anyone? my goal was the apexi WS2, but i cant find it under 400.

Re: Exhaust question
Just buy a test pipe now and get exhaust later. Or charge it all. You will need a test pipe unless you plan on keeping your cat with new exhaust. Hence catback. Its from the cat to the back of the car.

Re: Exhaust question
It depends on whether the kit come with a teste pipe or not. Most dont and a test pipe replaces your so its all straight through so you wouldnt need a new cat.

Re: Exhaust question
Err, you can't just throw a test pipe on and call it a day, you'll get a CEL.
Yes, you need a catalytic converter either way.
I recommend the Magnaflow 22628 direct-fit high flow catalytic converter.

A catback exhaust made for a 96-00 EX Civic is not going to come with a test pipe anyway.
