exhaust question
i was going to buy an eg today
everything stock but a ls motor/tranny from a 98 ls, intake and skunk2 exhaust
this exhaust is a full stianless steel i don't know where it starts but he said it was the full stainless steel exhaust
now this thing was not just loud it was obnoxious...only reason i didn't not buy it right on the spot everything else was basically perfect but the paint
i was wondering if i could fit an ls oem exhaust onto this eg, its a vx if that matters
or can i bolt up an oem exhaust from another car
would i have to bend it to make it fit, is it an easy job?
i basically have no skills when it comes to mechanical stuff, but my friends already said they'd be willing to help out/ weld if anything needs to be done
what model car should i pull the exhaust off of, i think i can find one in a junk yard for cheap
also how much would i be able to sell the skunk2 exhaust for?
thanks in advance and if you need to know any info on the car i'll try my best to answer them.....and yes i am an extreme noobie

Re: exhaust question (Chynaman718)
nothing other than a hatchback exhaust is going to bolt right up.all of the stock hatch exhausts are pretty restrictive,so keep that in mind.
if you want to fit an Integra exhaust, you will need to cut and reweld parts of it.also,i'm not sure the muffler will even fit in the space you have on a hatchback.
you could take steps to make the exhaust on the car less obnoxious.does it have a resonator?cat?does it come with a silencer,or can one be fitted to it?

Re: exhaust question (TeamNextGenChris)
yes there is a silencer but i don't really know how much it'll help
he didn't have it on hand
also i don't plan on racing or tracking it at all so being restrictive won't really matter
but what you said about the ls exhaust is what i wanted to know
how much work do you guys think it'll be to fit an ls exhaust on there?

i'd try the silencer first-they usually knock the sound down quite a bit.
for the integra exhaust, first i'd measure to make sure the muffler will even fit.i had a stock GSR muffler i was going to put on my hatch a few years ago.if i remember correctly,it was too long to fit.besides that you'd have to shorten the backpipe and axle section.
the stock exhaust off an Si hatchback is your best bet as it will bolt right on,and be the least restrictive OEM exhaust that doesn't have to be modded.
another option is to replace the Skunk muffler with something quieter.that'd be pretty simple(easier than modding the Integra exhaust to fit)and will retain the most performance.

it depends on if the previous owner used a cat/test pipe,or if they extended the exhaust to fit without one.
best case scenario,i'd try to get the cat with the exhaust when you find one.that way you have everything you need.
worst case scenario you'll have to buy a $25 Ebay test pipe(or make one if you have a friend that can weld) to bridge the gap between the exhaust and header.
