Default exhaust for my ek hatch

ok well, i bought my 97 ek hatch about a month ago knowing that the pipe that connects to the muffler, has cracks and holes in it. Its kinda loud now because of that, but now that i have a job i will be able to get this replaced.

Ive been to a local place called dennys muffler, and they do muffler rebuilds and things like that, so they quoted me only 25$ for the pipe that connects to the muffler, and since i didnt like there choice of muffler, they said bring my own muffler in and they will weld or connect all of them together.

So now my question is, what muffler to get that wont make a ricey *** sound, but not too soft, and will get a lil proformance out of. And what is an axleback? ive seen pics and isnt that my problem, the muffler with the pipe that connects to it?
I dont really wanna get a whole catback yet.

pacesetter/monza exhausts are supposed to be quiet and still preform. They're cheap too.

I got a '97 HB with an OBX-R B-3 with a silencer (neighbor's a cop, got to say quiet).
Actually I have OBX-R 4-2-1 Headers (EX coupe), B-3 muffler (modified to fit a HB), Reactive free flow catalytic (EX cope) and mandrel bend mid section (sedan). It all fits nicely except for the muffler; I think they sent me one for a coupe, but I took it to a local shop and got it fitted.
With this setup its not too loud (cops tolerate me), and it tone is nice and deep, too.
