exhaust manifold question
hey guys whats up, im thinking of buying an aftermarket exhaust manifold. I have a d16y7 right now. if i got the manifold for the y7 and lets say in the near future i decide to do a mini me and put a y8 head on it would it cause a problem as fitting wise, or will it be the same. Sorry if this may sound noobish. Thanks in advance

Yes, it will fit no problem. However, as stated above, you will have to relocate the catalytic converter. This also means buying a catalytic converter for a 96-00 EX, and extending your secondary O2 sensor wiring.

The CX/DX/LX catalytic is part of the exhaust manifold. On an EX, it's got a more "header" style exhaust manifold and a separate catalytic.

Here's the lower portions of both:
Top one is SOHC Non-VTEC, lower is SOHC VTEC.

i have a question too. i could figure it out i guess if i go outside but its 5 degrees out. I just bought a DX ek hatch. and this is my first exp with a cat thats part of the header.
my manifold is cracked which is throwing me a CEL cause the crack is near the o2
if i were to just buy a ebay header, i would also just buy a regular cat for an "EX" or a test pipe and everything should connect to the exhaust perfectly right?

I have only seen one of these manifold's that hasn't cracked, its a very common problem. You can buy any D-Series Header with a O2 bung for the primary and the secondary should be in your cat. The most work this would require would be extending the primary O2 wires about 12 inches to reach the Primary O2 bung in your aftermarket header. Unless it's a VTEC-E engine (Y5) then you would do as I explained above and then run a OBD2A computer like a P2P (D16Y8).
