exhaust manifold leak
I'm new to the forum. I've got a 96 hatch. Everyone that i know seems to be having problems with the exhaust manifold leaking on the ek. Anybody know what can be done. I've tried buying an aftermarket header but it's always wrong. Does anyone know of a aftermarket or does anyone have a used one for sale. This is the one with the cat. converter. Your help is much appreciated.

Any 96-00 aftermarket header will fit, BUT since you have a hatch, im only assuming you have the Y7, which means the CAT is on the header itself. For now, you can replace the header, but it will be much louder than normal, because of upgraded header and no cat, but in the futurre, find an exhaust system, or at least midpipe section that utilizes the standard mounted cat (bottom of header, not ON it, lol) froma ny 96-00 civic, im pretty much sure their all interchangalb,e being i have one off a coupe on my Ej6 sedan. Although, im not 100% clear if the hatches are the same legnth, im leaning towards yes, but someone may have to clarify that.

Re: (97Ej6mike)
if you want to get it replaced... take it to the honda dealer. does your car have less than 150k miles and have EJ6 in the VIN? is the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT on? take it to them, give them your VIN, and they should replace it for free. they did it on my hatch. or you can take your chances with an ebay header, people on http://www.d-series.org give those good reviews, but you can't exactly trust anything from ebay.

I have the same problem on my EJ6 The manifold is cracked in the middle and goes right down to the O2 sensor... i just passed smog about 8 mothes ago so im not woried for the moment...other than the fact that it will be running a bit rich i wouldent worry about it... replace it when u can.

i was going to mention this. honda had a recall due to the manifolds cracking, i had mine replaced a few years ago along with the 02 sensor, cost me absolutely nothing
