exhaust leak or tires chirping>?
is it possable to only hear an exhaust leak when shifting hard?
the sound happends at the same time that youd expect the tires to chirp i cant tell if its the tires or and exhaust leak.
it sounds like phshhh
keep in mind the ground is cold and a little damp so its not an actual chirp. this happens on 1-2-3-4th gears
i just put on aem v2, greddy header, and evo. exhaust onto my b16 coupe.
if its not an exhaust leak i chirp through 4th gear consistantly, i barely chirped 2nd with just an intake.
Edit: i dont hear the noise at all through 8krpm then i shift and i hear it for a split second.

definately be surprised if you had a b16 peeling into 4th gear, although im sure its not impossible....
Some tires don't make any squeeling noise at all tho, just a a sound like a brush on pavement when they break loose, especially if its cold and damp.
You'd hear an exhaust leak either at idle or @ full RPM not just when you shift through 4 gears..

Yes, it would definitely be noticable w/ B16
But it would be more of a "rumble" than a "whoosh"

Re: (no0B16a)
well i went out and oh a mission to figure it out.
when i shift at 5400rpm right before vtec at full throttle it doesnt break loos or make any noise.
shift at 5700rpm it barely breaks loos in 2nd gear and makes the brushing noise, doesnt break in 3rd or 4th.
shift at 7500-8000rpm it breaks loos in 1-2-3-and barely chirps 4th if i hit it just perfect.
my conclution is: no exhaust leak, my tires are really shitty unless its 100% dry and they are warmed up. and i think my bolt-ons complement the b16 well.

exuast... spring/donut joint between a pipe (or header) and the b pipe or cat separating due to weak motor mounts(mainly the rear mount) very common with headers...

Re: (solo2slocivic)
well when i first put on my header i forgot the donught and it sounded open headerish and it was at idle and most rpms.
the noise i hear when i shift is a brushing sound.
is there any way i can fix the problem if the header and cat are sperating on hard shifts?

some rubber compounds seem to like silence.... nitto 555r's are notorious, I run with alot of domestic guys and they've sworn off the nitto's simply because when you're burning them, you can't tell, they're silent.... makes it hard in the heat of a race to tell if you should let off, or push it harder.
