Default Exhaust Leak options

alright well my 2000 Honda Civic Lx appears to have an exhaust leak. Im thinking that it is pipe from the cat to the pipe with the inline muffler. Im headed to a local shop to have it checked out but im not expecting it to be a cheap fix. I was wondering how hard anyone would think it would be to replace the headers, attach a universal cat, and tie that back into the existing pipes (post cat piping). Or would it be a better idea to invest in an exhaust manifold with a cat already attached. Im stuck between going for the cheap fix or taking the estimate from the shop and seeing what I can do myself for that price.

Pep Boys or Vatozone, muffler patch kit, 2 hours of downtime and a cheap solution, assuming that the leak is on the smaller size.
