Exhaust: Header/Cat Delete increase loudness on my hatch?
Ok so I have an EJ hatch with a B16a, header, no cat, and a ThermalRite exhaust. Looking to quiet her down some but I wanna keep the header and straight pipe. My question is this: Does the cat make that much of a diff in sound? Does the header?

What kinda of header do you have? And yes having NO-cat increases the noise level quite a bit.

i agree. Put the CAT back. It gonna save your live and so does your gf and your family. the CAT will not affect your performance much as long as you are NA.

96-00 USDM hatchbacks are EJ6's
K so the cat is long gone, what is a good replacement (besides OEM).
Do you think a magnaflow would be a quieter exhaust?

Well, I guess your best bet is aftermarket Hi-flow cat. Good luck!
BTW, I am doing research on the exhaust flow and I am trying to customize those section. If you need one, I have a spare hi-flow cat. 2" inlet and 2.5" outlet welded on flanges that fits EGs. If you are interested, I'll let you go for $70. It pass smog w/ my supercharged D16z6. Let me know.

Still pondering whether or not I should put a high flow cat in....here in FL we don't give 2 ***** about emissions....
