Do a search on honda-tech or google and decide on your personal preferences. I personally have 2.25" piping to a Magnaflow stainless steel oval muffler and I love it.

a very poular exhaust for hatchs are the apex n1. i personally don't like em too much much. apex world sport2 looks way better IMO.

It all depends. If you are willing to pay a good sum of money I would choose a cat back system because some of the manufactures are making CARB legal exhaust systems. I do not know if it is hard for you to get smoged, but to avoid headaches I would go that route.
If you are a baller on a buget I would pick a muffler out and get it weld to 2.25" piping (for D seriers) and 2.5" piping ( for b seriers)

I tried alot of different things on my 92 VX. I had mufflers, open headers and test pipes so far the best thing ive found is the Greddy Evo Cat bak....Sounds great and not to loud when its NOT being stomped on, however its a beast wen opened up. If you dont have the near $500 For the greddy. OPTION 2: My sister has a 92 dx hatch with a "Speed And Run" (ebay name brand) cat-bak system that I paid $215 for shipped on ebay and Its sound is pretty good Also. A little bit louder but 2.5" pipe and bigger resonator can also be used with turbo. So Greddy for about $500...Ebay for about $220...or (the cheap mans special that i ran for a while) Stock piping, cut out ur stock resonator weld on 2" piping to ur downpipe and get a $35 ebay muffler and buzz around for about a $75 deal. ***if ur gonna getta ebay muffler make sure it says HB or Hatchback in the item description. Hope this helps!

What I did is I new the look I wanted(from the muffler) as well as the tone/volume of the overall exhaust system. Told the guy @ the muffler shop and I got a custom 2.25" with a thermal R&D tip for under 375 including the new hi-flow cat. It looks and sounds like RSR ex mag street system. Can't do n1 style without getting harrased by cops (in my area of so cal at least) and the power/flow is still very good. I might step up to 2.5" piping in the future.

all CAT-BACK exhausts have an EO exemption. as long as the cat is not disturbed, it is exempt from needing a CARB number. This is actually old new, this was enacted around 2001

i have a pacesetter exhaust and i like it. i switched out to a fart can about a year ago though to help the turbo spool a bit fast. i'm in the market now for 3" but on motor and nitrous the pacesetter did me great. i have had it on there for 2 1/2 years now and it still looks/sounds great.

the only thing your gunna get from people is there opinion on what they have and how much they like it,
some have had mutliple exhausts, and have a favorite, you have to relize these are civic's every company makes somethign for this car, and on here your gunna mostly wsp, ex mag cause its "jdm",
search look around on the net and around town, coming on here and asking people that for all you knwo could be retard and giving you there opinion on what they like is dumb, find **** out on your own

That's the point.. I trust (most) people on honda-tech. This is the kind of information that I wanted. I don't want to be stuck with some exhaust that I paid $400 for that I'm not gonna like.

u forget that hatchbacks have limited room for a muffler, so if u get a long enough muffler it'll barely fit, and u'll have problems with the axleback hitting your LCA, thas why he suggested to find a HB/Hatchback muffler.

does a cat back exhaust INCLUDE the cat, or start after the cat? The reason im wondering is because i want one that replaces everything starting where the headers bolt onto the cat. The bolts on mine after the cat are so rusted i dont even want to mess with them.

well youd have to buy a cat, otherwise its be called header back, just heated the boltsup witha torch and youll be fine, worst comes to worst, grind the heads of and drill them out
