Default Exhaust on Civic got chopped by shop, what should I do?

First off I'm on my friends name, my name on here is JdmEGHatch6

So I went to get my muffler piping redone because it wasn't for my hatch, it came off a del sol, we tried to make it fit but it just looked like ****. So I too kit to this shop, when I come back I find crush bent piping, and the tip of my hks hi-power muffler cut off about half an inch!!!

Guy said He can give me half my money back, which is 100 bucks, what should I do?

of course he used crush bent piping.....you're gonna pay $$ for true mandrel bent custom piping.

And he probably cut off the tip to make it fit better... *shrug*

take your money back and call it a loss

maybe you should have given specific instructions and hung around while they did the work. i would never leave my car at a muffler shop... god knows how they'll end up mounting your muffler(or cutting it).

try to get back all your money... thats a shitty job from a shitty place.

a) don't take the money back, make them do it right
b) bend over take it like a bitch and jsut take the money
c) take the money back and make them do it right(they messed up, not you)

I'd go with c

I would definitely have them re-do it.

I hung around the shop when they put my exhaust and they had to weld in an extension to get it to fit right but the mechanic was super nice about it.

You are the customer and they are the servicer provider. They did a poor job and now you want the money back--take them to court.

If you win, you could get them to redo it (while you hang around) and maybe even get your money back. I've seen these cases on Judge Judy a few times where the Plaintiff gets their money back.

The guy said if and only if I replace the muffler he will return half the money. Court will take forever, and I should have stuck around that was my fault. But them cutting my tip off never crossed my mind. I'll probably end up getting 100 back and calling it a day. Anyone have an exhaust for a 92-95 hatch???

At least try to sway them in giving a full refund.

thats the type of attitude that makes society so stupid these days...

how did they mess up??? Every muffra shop in the country will use crush bent piping unless told otherwise...and the price will go up a lot.

True, they did cut 1/2 an inch off the muffra tip....so what. It probably looks/fits better this way anyways.

In all honesty if you weren't there, and told them to make the exhaust fit without any specific instructions then they did their job. Everytime I take one of my exhausts to fit into my car I stay in the shop until it's done, and sometimes even get my hands dirty making sure that everything is the way I like it. Currently I have an integra exhaust in my civic, it doesn't fir the way I like it, but hey, it's my fault.

muffler shops aorund my area use mandrel bent piping unless told otherwise so they can charge you more.. granted he is at fault for not specifying which piping he wanted.

cutting the muffler tip is what bothers me.. unless authorized to do so, they shouldn't have don't it.. regardless of look/fit. they could have called or waited for his return before lopping the tip.

they should have cut the .5" off the piping before they welded the muffler to it not taken it off the tip

Good job on getting your money back. I guess thats a lesson learned, don't leave it up to random people to decide what you want.

Whenever I've had my exhaust worked on, I probably spent more time under the lift than the guy making the exhaust.
