Default Exhaust on a Automatic sound the same as a Manual?

Hey...
I was just wondering, does the exhaust on a Automatic sound the same as on a Manual? By sound the same, I mean does the sound on the Automatic make a continuous sound when accelerating and switching gears (vroooooooooooommm), or does it sound like a manual (vrrrrrooommmm (break in sound to shift) vrrooooooommmm again, like that). I don't want mine to sound all gay, I'm trying to extract whatever power I can get out of my car and I don't wanna sound like a retard doing it...I'm getting my 5-spd by September, cause my sis is getting this car..oh yeah it's a 97 Civic EX Coupe...Thanks

The automatic is gonna sound like powershifting in a manual, there won't be any time between gears, just like in low RPMs.

Yeah...Milano is a great color. So deep and rich when it's clean.

Thanks for the reply...I was just worried cause I heard a Civic with a Apexi N1, and I think the car was auto, and it sounded odd when it shifted. I dunno, maybe it's just me.

well if u get a nice exhaust like a greddy evo or something no one would know. if you get a real ricey and loud exhaust,, people will take more notice to you and the finer details.

Whether u buy a nice exhaust or not people will be able to tell its
an automatic. Nothing you can do except buy a 5 speed

Hell no. You can tell whether its standard or automatic without even hearing the engine. Different ways:

Driver has both hands on the wheel through gear shifts
No arm movement between shifts
The car doesn't pitch much between shifts
The car will pitch a little, but there will be time between it falling back to normal and the front raising again in a standard. Even with F1 shifters, theres a little bit of time between gears.

just pondering, i drive a standard, but if you had an automatic, could you possibly let go off the gas at (automatic shift points) and make it sound like a 5 speeder?

hahaha damn str8 thats what i do when i am really really bored. actually not really, but i certainly have done that lol. and um yes i can take off the gas when it shifts, because it is easy to tell on the tach when it's going to shift. as far as sound is concerned, with an aem cai my car has a low growl sound which can get pretty loud at full throttle... but i dont really notice when the car shifts if there is a difference usually i take my foot off the throttle when it shifts. *shrug*

Exhaust on a automatic car. bbbbaaaa, ooooooaaa
Exhaust on a manutal car. bbaaaaaa, pabaaaaaaa

Automatic changes gears quicker, you can tell if its an auto.
Manual you have it yourslef, and it takes longer, and there a gap.

Ya, it kinda makes that higher rev then drops down when you are going hard in a standard too. Auto just clicks down. I tried to make it look like my mom's 626 was standard when my sis was driving once. We were about to pass someone that was relly slow, so I popped it down to 1 then to 2 when it redlined. It was kinda stupid looking, cuz she let off the gas and hit it again before it shifted.

ANYBODY THAT KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT CARS CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN AUTOMATIC AN A MANUAL THE LAST THING YOU WANT TO DO IS MAKE YOUR CAR LOUDER TO BRING MORE ATTENTION TO YOURSELF IN MY OPINION THE LOUDER THE CAR THE EASIER IT IS TO TELL

I say save your money for your 5-spd. The only way you can tell a ricer is by the sound of his exhaust in an automatic car. It's one of my pet peeves especially when they think they're fast. I pull up right next to them in 2nd gear making sure they hear me shift, then I step on the clutch, pause, then upshift heheh I love it, just looking at the guy's expression in the automatic while he mashes the gas hoping for the best... his first mistake was buying the automatic heh but i'm only telling you this so you don't make yourself look stupid.
Oh, I forgot to mention that an automatic with an exhaust sounds "blendy", like each gear blends into the next, that's how I would describe it.

Don't be mistaken. Automatics can be very fast and more consistant in drag racing. I know of an automatic Camaro street driven not insanely tuned in the 11s. SOmeone in NIRA is an automatic, i forget who, and is one of hte fastest in hsi class. They are kinda modified tho. I know the Camaro at least has a stall converter and a transmission coolant cooler thing.

I have to respond since I have a 98 Civic LX (automatic) with a cat-back.
The sound when the gears shift is GAY as hell IMO!
The actual sound from the Magnaflow exhaust is pretty impressive though.
My brother can simulate my exhaust very well and it's funny as hell.
An automatic is like one continous sound that just changes tone. Doesn't have that short silence like a 5 spd. Also, the gear ratio is pretty long on my LX which makes it sound even gayer!

I now have a 5spd. h/b and haven't drove the LX in 3 weeks. I went to take it out with my b!tch the other night and it wonuldn't crank, so we rode the hatch

But, it's night and day difference in sound.

Oh so ignorant about automatics, it's pretty funny to me. depending on what you had done, i'm sure we made the same power, yet i would have been able to beat you.
