Re: exhaust (cIvIc_gSr95)
If you wanna put up with the noise and all the law grabbing atten. it will draw then go for it. I figure you may as well put a resinator and muffler on it imo because I really doubt you will see much increase in power if you have a decently designed 2.25 inch or larger system and it will be better sounding imo...
Of course if you are turbo then you want bigger and maybe a straight pipe system would help you, but it will then be especially loud....

Straight pipe would be fine...MY suggestion is to go with 2.25" piping unless you go Turbo then a 3" piping would be better. But it is really f*ng loud. My friend did that before. His muffler is a straight bolt on so he can go with his stock muffler, Tenzo muffler OR straight pipe. I would suggest going with a bolt on muffler. What you should do if you want to go straight pipe is to jsut buy a universal muffler (casue stock sounds like ****) adn go to a muffler sahop or performance shop adn have them put on your exhaust making the muffler a bolt on muffler then you can cruise with a normal exhasut (not too loud) adn take off the muffler for racing. But you won't have a huge difference in HP gains if you go w/a an aftermarket cat-back versus straight pipe. Straight pipe is good for Turbo though...Good Luck!!

I use a resonator and muffler on may custom 2.5" cat back systems for the VTEC engines. With well designed mufflers and resonators you power loss will be minimal. When we tested my cat back system on a ITR with Toda Bs and one of my headers we actually loss power when we did a run with an open header versus the system and test pipe.
