excessive blowby??
hey H-T I recently rebuilt a gsr for boost and have about 7k on the motor and about 4k of it with boost. recently i have noticed it smoking more with just regular driving in the city, above about 3-3500rpm. i have had zero problems with it before other then the occasional puff here ir there (i think i have a bad valve seal). anyways i popped the hood the other day to make sure everything looked ok (like no leaks etc) and noticed smoke coming out of the VC blowby tube. it idles fine and runs great but the smoke has me worried. do you think i have a bad ring somewhere or the valve seal that was "weak" is completely shot now? any ideas? thanks

alright. im actually heading to my dads place tomorrow to borrow his compression tester to see if there is a cylinder that is different. im sure he has a leak down tester as well, ill have to ask him.

a compression test might not show you what your looking for but it never hurts.. doing the leak down just make sure the cyl your checking is at ATDC compression and listen in the TB, exhaust, oil filler, dip stick tube, and radiator.. if there is a problem youll hear it and get alot better idea on ware you need to start looking

Re: excessive blowby??
alright good pointers. i have never done a leakdown test before. Im sure my dad will have an idea of what to do, hes been a mechanic forever and works with that kind of stuff all day. i have a feeling its a valve seal or ring.... hoping not a ring and would be pissed considering its only 7k miles old.
