exaust question??
well i wasnt positve where to post this but ill do it here cuz i own a 5thgen. has anyone ran a 2.5 exaust with a 2.25 axle back. i got the 5zigen 2.25 catback and the b-pipe resonator is to big and it is being hit buy my short shifter so i was gonna get a new b-pipe in 2.5 with a smaller res that connects straight to the header with out a cat. Has anyone done this?

Re: exaust question?? (gen 5 hatch)
i would say there's an easier solution to this.
maybe put a small dent in the resonator where the shifter is hitting.
maybe try to tuck the shift linkage up a little-trim the rear linkage mounting bushing a little.
honestly,i'd get a new shifter that fir better before i got a new midpipe.

Re: (FifthGearOnline)
i would like to elimate the size of the res and to have the b-pipe attach to the header with no cat. the res is huge on this exaust. for some reason the b-pipe hangs extremely low dont know why all the hangers are attached too . every lil bump i spark adn my car is low but not that low where im sparking driving down the street and every lil bump im nailing the ground(crappy pics but u can see)
heres a pic of how close it is
again:

Re: (gen 5 hatch)
maybe try either denting the res where it interferes, and bend the hangers to pull the exhaust up some,or replace the resonator and then pull the exhaust up.
you can go to Advance and get a Dynomax/Thrush resonator in whatever length you need,in 2.25" for about $20 and get it welded in at any decent muffler shop.the res body is quite a bit smaller in diameter than what you have,AND the have tapered leading edges as opposed to your current square-edged resonator,so it won't "hang up" as badly if you do bottom out.....
you could get the new res welded on,then pull off the midpipe and dent the res in the appropriate spot to gain even more shifter clearance, then bend the hangers a little to tuck the midpipe up a little and gain even more ground clearance.do that and you should be golden.
