EX tape deck into a DX? Noob question.
Will this (just the tape player itself) fit into a DX center console or will I have to buy an EX center console to put it into my car? Thanks a lot in advance.

The tape does not fit in the center console at all. It goes down by the cupholders. That piece that's surrounding it is actually part of the cupholders.
It has an 8-pin DIN cable on the back that plugs into the stock radio.

ah yeah I know it goes down by the cupholders but aren't the DX and EX cupholder areas different? maybe I should rephrase this: will that tape deck would fit into the DX cupholder area? aren't the DX and EX cupholder areas different? that tape deck comes from an EX right? ( just wanna make sure) cause I wanna put one in my DX and hook my ipod up to it via that weird thing you can buy anywhere (headphone jack ---> tape)

Yes, it'll fit in a DX. There is no difference between the trim levels, just the year-change (96-98 and 99-00). But I wouldn't buy a tapedeck for iPod interface.
Buy this instead of the tape deck and adapter.

"This adapter works with the ROUND 8 pin CD CHANGER port in HONDA & ACURA vehicles. Requires an OPEN CD port. Plugs into the BOTTOM port of your IPOD (except shuffle_ and CHARGES your IPODD at the same time. (honda aux old) "
