Default EX or SI

what would you prefer:
1997 civic EX and do a 2000 SI conversion
or
1999 civic SI

what would be cheaper?

Why not just buy the 99 Si, rather than having to buy a 97 ex. I would think that with the motor swap, the ex would be more expensive than the Si...IM not too sure how much more expensive it would be, but wouldnt it easier just to get the si?

it all depends really. are you buying a 97 civic or a 99 civic si. if you don't already have a 97 ex just buy a 99 si. unless of course you find a 97 civic with a nice body but with a blown motor for cheap. then go for that and then swap it.

why go through the trouble of converting a 97 EX to 00 Si specs? go with the 99 Si.

If you haven't bought the EX yet, buy the SI. Dont go though $1000 in labor alone and about $2000 for the engine. And the hassles of the **** smog refs in California!

If you went with the ex and swaped in the si stuff you would have cheaper insurance and maybe your car wouldn't get stolen.

If you don't plan on going 1.8 on the EX, go for the SI!

The insurance wouldn't be the much higher. And its not the Si trim that would make a difference in being stolen, its the aftermarket parts such as rims, stereo, carbon fiber hood, exhaust, and engine mods.

i would go with the Si, too much hassle to go through when you're swapping with something that comes stock already. Get the Si and build on it, seems much more easier and logic.
