Default EX ECU in a DX Civic

I just recently did a tranny swap on my dx automatic to standard 5speed, and im still running on the dx automatic tranny. I was wondering will anything bad happen if i go w/ a manual SOHC vtec ecu on a non vtec motor? whats the worst that can happen and can i benefit from it??

Well, I can tell you this:

On my old D15B7 with a manual tranny, the computer is a p06.
Following someone's suggestion, I replaced the computer with a p28 from the D16Z6.
It will throw two codes. Both for vtec, as the D15B7 isn't a vtec motor.
After a few disscussions, we came to the conclusion, the fuel and ignition maps are almost identical.
It does allow another 300 rpms though. So the D15B7 would then rev up to 6800.

As for the Auto to Manual, I got nothin.

the rev limit on the z6 is 7200 rpm, and it has slightly better fuel maps but does throw a code.. vtec codes.... if you need a 5 speed ecu then just use that ecu untill you can find a 5 speed dx ecu

But as it's throwing two codes and goes to safety mode it limits the revs to 6800.

Believe me.

It's pretty much the same computer on the D15b7.

It just has a higher rev limit.

I'd take the p28.
Because you may end up with a D16z6, and then you already have the computer.

That's smart planning ahead.
