EX cluster into CX. Weird tach issue.
I recently bought an EX cluster from a "legit" seller on ebay. I plugged it in, everything works properly, except for the tachometer. It will read that my redline is anywhere from 3.9k-4.6k, varying with no rhyme or reason. It seems to creep slower than it is supposed to. Now, I know that my bone stock CX redline is 6500. What would cause this? Is it a problem with the tach itself, or with a possible low signal/bad connection in the wiring? What should I check? No, I don't have a known good tach to test. The whole reason I bought the damn thing was for the tach, too. Hope you guys can help me out. Thanks.
Edit: EX cluster was from a 95 Si. My CX is also a 95. Speedometer works properly.

This is a slight cop-out answer, but have you searched these forums for posts describing similar problems? There is a way to test your tach signal with a multimeter ... it's in the Helms I believe, and there are probably posts on here.
