Default Evo - Civic Setup Possible????

Hi guys next year i wanna build a Civic with A Evo motor in it and AWD, i was wondering Could this be possible seeing as how someone could put a vett motor into a Ek. I am trying to do the same but a Evo To a EK. I wanted the Boost And also the AWD, seeing as how i live in california this would be the only way for me to Have boost legally. everything eles would be internals and Tune so i can try and keep myself on the legal side. The Reason i said this is that i am now taking alot of welding and fabrication classes and this is what i want my new project to be. Any help with this would be great and plz this is a Dream i want to make come true dont post neg post just wanna see if it is possible if so i wanna get started hunting down a Evo Motor Possibly the Evo Sitting outside but itd be sad to kill the evo

anything's possible, but im sure u will have a hard road ahead of u.

my sis put a evo 6 cyclone motor in a eclipse gsx and even had problems with that..

but that is a good engine and u can pick it up for around 1600 with low mileage

Anything is possible with time, money, skill, resources, money, and money! The guy with the "civette" definitely had fabricating skills. Remember the car has to be safe as well. Go for it if you have all the above!

Skills i am learning in School now Money im not too worried about as this will be a super long project, resources that will be a problem. Mabe people from the Evo Sites Can help or a guy i use to know who worked with me at mitsubishi Dealership can probably help if he has the same number. And If Money Fails ill just pull what i need out of my current Evo to make my Dream come True

Taken from the strange engine swaps thread...to give you some idea (not an EVO, but a 4G63).

I personally wouldn't go AWD, just look at the issues they have with the EVO's...examples: they eat clutches like there's no tomorrow, and the transmission/transfer case/rear diff. weren't built for drag racing, they're built for auto-X.

But, if you were to go through with it, I'd recommend putting a built drivetrain in BEFORE you complete the swap. The EVO our shop is building is using a Team Rip Engineering (google them)...they specialize in EVO's

I like The AWD For the Handling It wouldnt Be Just a Drag Car itd Be More Of a Street AWD Drift Car ^^ and I heard that if i pull out a Fuse in The Fuse Box it makes the Evo RWD

Keep it FWD.

Making the civic RWD is gonna be a pain in the ***, yeah, you can get the RWD system off those AWD civic wagons or whatever from like the early 90's that utilized like 10% RWD, but I don't think it's worth it, pair it up with an eclipse GS-T trans or something.

I've never heard that...ever.

I don't really see how it would work, mainly because the system is AWD all the time...if the motor is spinning and the car is in gear, it will turn the transmission, which turns the transfer case, which transfers to the rear differential...I don't see how simply pulling a fuse would disable that.

It's definitely possible, but I'd have a set plan before you dive into it.

Good luck

"SO i can use it as a street Drift Car Also."

God tell me you don't have a license yet.

power to you if you can make it work the way you want it, but if you want to 'street drift' I hope you wrap yourself around a tree

As far as the pulling a fuse in the evos to make them RWD, the JDM Evos use an electronic differential to my understanding, so this may be possible, however, the USDM ones use a mechanical one making it impossible to send all the power to the back.

"Any Advice on Where i Should Start At Any Would help im a little Stumped "

this is obviously beyond your abilities my friend, if you lack the vision to even start.

step 1 would probably be to acquire the friggin car and motor.

and if you are serious, which i doubt you are, you can always contact the guys who built the awd integra. This would be fairly obvious to me.

and i'd like to see pictures of your evo

A fuse can not control the wheels, in order to make it a RWD you would have to remove the 2 front axles. We do it to our Humvees in the army when we get bored.

Again, if the diffrential is electronic, I'd imagine it could disengage the front wheels with a solinoid or a motor or something. I was just throwing it out there as where it may have been heard from.

It would be nice to see this swap done, but I have my doubts as to your ability to execute it. Good luck.

I recall seeing a 92-95 Sedan with a turbo Legend V6 (Maybe a vigor 5 cyl, whatever the RWD one is)

The car was like pink and black.

With epic fabrication skills or an epic bank account anything is possible. It would be easier, though, to buy an EVO (which you can't make RWD by pulling a fuse ) and convert the body panels to make it look like a Civic.

Either way, if your car's uniqueness is the only thing that makes you feel worthwhile, I suggest killing yourself now and sending me the money you would have otherwise wasted building some half-assed abortion of an automobile.
