Default Everything was going great....

Well, I mentioned in a compression test thread that I was shaving my head. Well, I got it back and yesterday I was putting everything back together with the new gaskets and stuff. Well, when torqing the head bolts, bolt number 3 just didn't seem like it was tightening. I took it out to see the threads filled with the threads from the block! I dont know what happend, but I just about punched my self in the face. Now I am in a bind, I was wondering if anyone knew of a helicoil set that would be long enough for a head bolt thread, the people at CarQuest said they only came in a 5/8 length, but I think there has to be something longer. And would you reccomend a Helicoil if I can find one, or should I try to tap it? The head bolt is a 10mm with a 1.25 pitch. Thanks -Loren

I'd go with time-serts first, but heli coils will work fine as well.

Are time-serts basicly the same thing? I really have no knolege on this kind of thing. I just want to fix it reasonably cheaply.
