what you think has little to do with what's correct.
and if you don't care about sohc's then why bother with this thread?

It is because of the compression the D15 motors have taller dome pistons than a D16 so if you throw a D16 head (which has a smaller combustion chamber than D15 head) on your D15 it makes it a high compression motor be sure you run premium gas if you do this or your valve train will suffer. and my D16 runs great pulls hard I dont know why everyone is so down on em the trick is getting em to run a little rich as the D16 ecus are definitely geared towards miles per gallon they are also fairly cheap to build and replace for that matter, if you throw a d16 head on a d15a2 you end up with a 12.5+ compression motor

ive ran d15b's with my z6 motor /b7 tranny combo and walked them.

ive ran mini me's before with my z6 motor / z6 tranny and been walked.

both the guys i ran had z6 tranny's. i know this doesnt say much, cause of driver ability, motor condition and all, but decided i would throw that out there.

both races were at a 1/8th drag strip

The valve train doesn't care much about fuel grade. High compression engines are more detonation prone, and necessitate high test fuel.

hey heres some more to add to your knowledge the D15's are 1.5's the D15b is an 8 valve the D16's are 1.6 not to mention the cams lift and duration are more agressive on the D16's head. if you know what your doing you can alter your compression without swapping heads you have to know how to adjust your timing with your valve lash though

OMFG The getting it to run rich trick is about as good as running an open throttle body in the desert.
