Ever heard of a d16ZC???
A friend of mine just purchased a hatch. Another friend looked at it, got confused, and came to me... Here's the deal...
He said it has the valve cover with just an H on it, and 16 valve, which makes me think 1.6 SOHC Non Vtec.
He said he saw a vtec solenoid, but it wasn't there originally (hatch is a EG6 DX), and the vtec wire was run with a speaker wire running from the solenoid to inside the firewall.
The intake manifold looked like a d16z6 manifold he told me.
Then he tells me that he couldn't see the block stamping, so he wiped the dirt away, and sees D16ZC. He doesn't believe it, so he scrubs it clean with a brush, and sure enough, D16ZC...
So, i did some web snooping, and read that the d16zc came in 86ish civics and integras, but those were carb'd motors i thought, and non-vtec... Is it kinda a ghetto, wish i was a mini-me? Is this a good swap? Whats the deal with it? Its got me all confused...

The ZC motor was made in both SOHC and DOHC. There was a SOHC VTEC ZC, so this could possibly be that motor.
I was under the impression that all ZC motors were stamped with only ZC though.
Anyone else?

there is no D16ZC....common knowledge will tell you FALSE right away because Honda engine codes went.... *letter* *digit* *digit* *letter* *digit*...ie B16A3, D16Z6, B18C5, etc...
the engine he has is a D16Z6, but the 6 is probably worn or smething
Yes, ZC's were stamped, "ZC"

Re: Ever heard of a d16ZC??? (Emerika)
even the SOHC ZC's were stamped with ZC only... My buddy has a SOHC ZC in his EG...
And as far as letter number letter number, what about B16a? what about b18c? what about b17a? what about b18a?
I asked him if it looked fake, or rubbed off, and he said no...

well, if they had ANYTHING aftert the 16, 17, 18, etc, it would be a letter

yeah, but you were saying that they all have a number last... like c5, c1, a2...
But now i see what your saying... I'm gonna go look at this turd and see if i can see a head code, or a tranny code... Where can i find the tranny code? front? back? top?

I think mine's toward the front/upper part on a white sticker...YS1
And only the 94-95 D16Z6's had VTEC valve covers. The 92-93 Si's and the 93 EX's had the H logo only and not a vtec logo....
and for my "examples" above....a D15B isn't the same as a D15B7, but there wouldn't be such a thing as D15BC....thats all

Yeah i know... but the block you put in was stamped ZC, not d16zc... i'm guessin it has to be a d16z6 that has been rubbed off... I have to look at it to see...
