1998 Honda Civic EX Coupe

I removed my evap vent shut valve and blew through one side of the valve and I discovered that the air blew through without resistance. is my evap vent valve faulty or is the valve only shut when energized?

A CCV is normally open valve so you should be able to blow air through it with no resistance.

Vent valve or purge valve?

I believe the vent valve is shut, but when tank pressure is high it'll open, so blowing will likely open it. Purge valve is closed.

Are you having a problem fuelling? If that's the case, inspect vent filter(if equipped) and canister for liquid fuel.

it's the vent valve located on top of the evap canister. ill look into the purge valve as a possible problem. thanks for responding

OP - What is the problem you're trying to solve? Is a CEL code thrown?

Do you have the service manual?
