Default Error in service manual and everywhere else (Helms '96-'00) + online parts store

https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...highlight=32mm

In that guide, the guy clearly uses a 32mm socket to remove the spindle nut on the axle (drive shaft), not too surprised.. However in the helms service manual and on the honda parts store websites, they list that same nut as only 22mm.. am I looking at the wrong part or is this a misprint?

Even here:
http://www.hondapartsnow.com/Page_Pr...riveshaft%20(1) and majestic honda (they use the same parts diagram), you can see they refer to it as a 22mm spindle nut..

I don't believe those are errors. I believe that those numbers are the height and thread pitch for the nut, not the socket size.

if that's true, why do the wheel nuts seem fairly accurate? Unless they aren't?

My wheel nuts take a 19mm socket.

correct it's just the thread size on the inside of the nut. So if you were to take off the nut and check the diameter of the spindle and used a thread pitch gauge that is what you'd come up with.

Width and thread pitch. I suppose that information would be used if you needed a replacement nut.

technically major diameter and pitch (and since it's metric you only have to measure the distance from one thread to the next in mm for pitch) 22mm is the correct major diameter for the axle threads and axle nut.
