ep3 seats into 96 ek hatch???

Not too sure about EK's but this is what I did for my EG
1. Cut off the front brackets off of the EP seats
2. Bolt them into their proper place
3. Take a hammer to them and flatten them out
4. Sit the EP seats down with the rears bolted down in their right spot.
5. Spot weld the front brackets to the sliding rail
6. Take seats out and really weld them
There are other ways to do it, but that's how me and my buddy did it. It took us about an hour.

I've heard that before 
The chance is there, true, but I've yet to have any problems with them after 3 months of driving 70+ miles a day. No rattling or any signs of weakness in the welds, so they appear to be holding up.
Once I get a daily driver and the hatch is a weekend car I'll upgrade to Recaro's or something like that, but for now the EP seats are holding up

If welded properly the metal will brake first. A weld holds better then the metal. So yea as long as he welded it right which looks like a decent weld, so i would not worry.

It's most definitely not a pretty weld, but the weld goes aaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way around and it's strong.

Yeah, but do you know how long that would take?
It was just a simple swap since my stock seats were starting to get worn out and torn.

Well what's the point of wasting that time if the shortcut I took has the same end result of making everything?
EDIT: I googled "strength of welds" and got this from Penton's Welding Magazine...
