Default engines or brakes??? please help me im totally lost here

ok so i got civic hx for about 4k, the guy who took care of it did a pretty damn swell job of it, got hella services and maintance, but the funny part was whenever the car came to a stop and my foot is ON the brakes i hear knocking noises, but when i drive everything is ok. no knocking what so ever, sometimes when the car stops it makes this knocking noise sometimes it doesnt. Guys i really need your help on this i dont wanna go attack blindly iin my engine or whereever the problem lies in.

ummm look in the master cylinder and make sure there is fluid. it isnt the engine or it would do it all the time as the rpm's go up and down... id start with the master cylinder and brake lines. does the brake pedal sink to the floor?

i think so, when i first the bought the car the brakes were tight like a clamp stoped nice and smooth barly had to step hard on the brakes, and they kinda still do that now but i am able to press the brakes firmly and fully

if when your sitting at a light the breaks feel weak and the pedal sinks to the floor and loses grip and you have to pump it to get brake power again its a master cylinder problem. had it in my car...took $100 and a half hour to fix.

i did it myself...with the help of my dad. it is basically just a few bolts and a removal process...not hard just have to bleed the brakes and watnot. I was also thinking...is your car a stick? it might be the slave cylinder...not sure tho. i never heard a knock...i think... with my master cylinder.

gotcha.... well just look at the master cylinder and all the brake lines...sounds like your problem. also make sure u have no loose bolt on your suspension that would wiggle when you brake. good luck.

try getting some brake cleaner and spray down the brekes and calipers theyalso make spray for sqeaky (sp) brakes. try that and see if not deff. check the fluid in the master cylinder.

good luck
