engine troubleshooting: a lot of minor problemos
finally got the car running.
(i was stumped on why my fuel pressure was so high)
but here are some problems i am running into, if anyone can help with some methods to troubleshoot these, that would be great.
(but before i begin, i will explain how my current set up is so that repetitive questions can be kept to a minimum) :
-stock 99 b18c5 into ek
-p28 chipped
-obd2 -> obd1
-b16 exhaust manifold
-stock cx midpipe & muffler
-stock cx fuel pump
-stock cx fuel injectors
-stock cx fuel rail
-oem fpr
*no cat, no O2 sensors*
(i am still breaking in the motor, was feathering it thru my rides. BTW, this is not a completed project... i need more money to do more)
Problems: (please refer to my setup, if it is because i am using the wrong parts, or missing the part, then please advise me! i need to know (kinda new at this, did the swap myself)
1. no power -> it feels like something is restricting it - could this be because i am
using stock CX fuel injectors with CX fuel rail? i changed a new fuel
filter, and my fpr. - or could this be b/c of my temporary exhaust
setup (stock cx with b16 header - no cat and no O2 sensors)
2. rattling noise -> sounds like it is coming from the timing belt side. this
noise goes with my rev, if i give it gas, the rattling gets faster
as well. (its not the cover, it sounds almost like its coming
from the head
3. CEL 1 and 16 -> (O2A - Oxygen sensor #1) and (Fuel injectors)
self-explanitory, but is this the reason why i am lacking power
and having my car feel like its restricted?
- if i need new fuel injectors, what should i get? i have been told that b16, gsr, or type r's... how much do they cost?
- i have an aftermarket header with no O2 sensor plug and i will be putting this on with my itr midpipe with new cat. do i need to make a plug in my header, or would one plug be ok for my cat?
thanks in advance!

Re: engine troubleshooting: a lot of minor problemos (NINE TRE)
1. Problem is more then likely your fuel set up. Not really the pump but everything after, injectors and fuel rail, you should really be using ITR stuff for that. Also after reading number 3 your more then likely in limp mode so youll have no power whats so ever.
2. Is it a rattle or tapping? Is the cover off for the cam gears? See how your timing belt is, and also a valve adjustment never hurts.
3. This put you in limp mode so your running like ****. Did you convert to 4 wire? If not then thats why your getting the CEL 1. And for injectors, probably because your not using ITR. Although im not sure if ITR is 240cc like everyone else or they might have different CC's.

Re: engine troubleshooting: a lot of minor problemos (Luserkid)
thanks for the reply
- the rattling comes from the timing belt area. i am going to take off the timing belt cover and see if it still makes the sound.

Re: engine troubleshooting: a lot of minor problemos (Luserkid)
ok,
i think the rattling is coming from one of the cylinders... maybe the piston. i am going to check that out.
but as for the lack of power, my fuel management is the issue.
i was told all b seriers honda fuel injectors are the same, right? what i need is 275-310cc injectors, and would H22 injectors be the right choice with an AEM fuel rail?

Re: engine troubleshooting: a lot of minor problemos (NINE TRE)
has anyone ever gotten CEL 16 before?
i dont think it's my injectors, assuming that all honda (d series and b series) injectors are the same right?
i checked to see if my fuel rail and injectors were igniting, and it was, so i'm not sure if that is the case
