Default Engine Trouble...

Ok just to give you a quick background. My buddy has a '90 SI (EF) that he dropped a 1st Gen B16A. He's spent around $5,000 to $6,000 including originally dropping his engine, along with upgrading his cams and camgears to Skunk2 as well as headers, exhaust, intake and upgraded his computer to obd1. But recently his timing went out and his piston slammed into a valve and wrinkled the head (never heard of that ). The head is basically blown and his pistons are toast. Now he has to replace his engine and we had two ideas. Get an older ZC engine (SOHC VTEC) and later on turbo it (Keep in mind he spent most of his money already). Or we were thinking of buying a b20 and putting a B18 (GSR DOHC VTEC) head on it. Any advice?

Just because he bent a valve and damaged a piston doesnt mean the motor is trash. Replace the damaged valves piston and rod if needed and sleeve it if there is damage to the cylinder wall. Should be all you need to do to fix it.

The head is done for. We brough it to our shop who does all of our swaps (They actually dropped this particular Engine) and they said SOL.
