Engine swap ?'s
Just wondering what will swap into my 95 civic ex coupe and how much it will cost me. I really would not like to spend more than $2500 for the whole deal. Can I do it with this much money? Please help, my car is too slow and I have to have more speed!

Re: Engine swap ?'s (95civic)
on a tight budget. anyways the motor i have in my 95 ex is the JDM B16A and that alone cost me like $2200. thats without the install. so save up!!! in my opinion save enough money for a GS-R motor

Re: Engine swap ?'s (95civic)
The B18C5 (teg type R ) is the mother of all swaps with the GSR a close second but they cost like a mother also. You MIGHT find an older LS engine (B18B) for around $2000 leaving you the $500 for the swap. Older B16A's are about $1,500 but i do mean OLDER. They are liable to have been beat upon rather badly. Stock, low milage B20B engines out of the Honda CRV can be found for around $1,500. That would be a great start for a killer setup if you swap in a VTEC head later.
Bang for buck
B18C5=$5,000=200 HP (you get what you pay for)
B18C1 (GSR) = $3,500=170 HP (great all around engine)
B18B (LS) =$2,500-2000=140 HP (nice low end, popular for turbo)
B16A1 =$2000=160 HP (but weak low end, good for NA buildup)
B20B =$1,500=125 HP (but killer low end and great potential)
Hope this helps
Mike

Re: Engine swap ?'s (95civic)
At first i did a 91 JDM b16a which was a very good motor but. it was old so i think it was pretty stressed when i blew the motor it sank 2 valves and destroyed my piston into about 70 pieces and my rod was twisted and bent very bad yes its a sad story and this just happened 2 weeks ago
but as of tday the new JDM b16a will be here and installed and be ready to wreck shop once again. but iam with the idea of the type r swapit is a all out good motor. but you also can make the b16 have good low end with the skunk 2 ecu it has helped me pull off the line but on yourswap i wish you the best of luck... but always remember to think of the future with what yu are planning to do (meaning) N/A, turbo, superchraged..
and again good luck with your swap..
