thats not always true, maybe for low boost setups but my local shop has a Crx thats running low tens with 10 inch slicks, with a gsr trans all it did was burnout down the track resulting in low 12's, they dropped down to 10's almost immediately when switching to longer gears, it still looses some traction but is much better then the short gsr gears</TD></TR></TABLE>
Unless they are redlining in 5th gear before they cross the line, with a better driver, the shorter transmission will still be faster.

thats true, if there were tires that could keep it on the ground it would be faster but with over 450 WHP on FWD with short gears its not that easy no matter whos driven, but there no point in arguing, just trying to give some input from the long gear end

Re: (SOHCD16y8)
personally i dont think that is true. the problem is with the final drive. you can still have short gear that keep the turbo spooled but still get traction a better solution would be to increase the tire size but keep the close ratio tranny. with the larger tires you would get more top end also.

if you want safe and reliable go with an H22 or H23. the H22 is vtec and has a lot of hp while the H23 is non-vtec but has more torque.
good luck.

i dont remember the site for sure but i thimk it was raceeng.com if i recall you had to use the dart tall deck block also and it is built with all forged and top of the line stuff so it probably pretty reliable and pretty expensive, but i'm sure that's what the top racers us you know?

2. The biggest pain with the swaps is finding the right combonation of mounts to get it to go in correctly, getting your axels straight is the most important part.
3. Technically it is not legal, If you have emmisions testing in your state this might make it a little tough. </TD></TR></TABLE>
I have a 93 integra engine in my civic, egr and valve cover breather aren't connected, they did a visual inspection and I still passed with flying colors. And they had my engine as a 1.5 for the test.

Re: What swaps are available for my Civic? (Diggin DelSol)
Geezz... when I started reading this my 98 EK was brand new! LOL. Anyway I just want to say this thread is awesome... if for nothing other than it doesn't start with "I tried to search but didn't find anything". So here's what I'm think of and I wanted run it by people who have done the same thing and see if they can answer my ?'s. I have a 98 DX Hatchback. I want to put in a B16a3 (I guess) here's my ?s:
-Is there a difference between a2 and a3 or are they the same (sometimes you see people refer to both as 99-00 si motors)?
-Do I need different or extra motor mounts (I've heard that the Si has one on the fire wall)?
-I know I need the VTEC wire harness and ecu, do I need any other electrical do dads??
-I'm getting a full swap, i.e. harness, ecu, shift linkage, motor, tranny. Am I missing anything else?
-What about the axles? Can I use my stock ones?
-Does anyone have any tips for doing this swap?
-Have I not thought of anything? Am I missing something?
I figure it shouldn't be to bad JDM or USDM since it was made for a similar car, I just want to make sure I have everything down before I get into it. Thanks for your help.

You will want to replace the mounts. I think the main difference between the D series (what came in your dx) and the B series (new motor) is the size. I think B series mounts are larger because the B series motors put out more power, and so it needs the bigger mounts.
You cannot use your stock axles. You will need to get a set of B series axles. Doesn't have to be specifically from a B16, but from a B series motor.

Swap usually means motor swap, though you can swap a lot of other things, like an integra gauge cluster and put it into a civic. Motor swap is when you take a motor from one car and put it into another. Like taking an integra ls b18b and putting it into a civic.
