Engine Swap for a Honda Civic
Hello there,
My father-in-law and his son was working on a 2000 Honda Civic DX They pulled the orginial motor and wanted to swap it out to make it a racer. They wanted to replace it with a Prelude motor. I belive the one that they put in was a 97 year. That went down hill and the motor will start up but will only rev up too 1800 rpms then the motor cuts out. I don't know what has been down since the beginning so I don't know what that could be a symtem of. Hopefully one of you might have a clue for me. He wants to get it running. The next problem is he wants to sell it know. He can't because it has an older moter in a newer car. So he bought a 2002 prelude moter, transmission, and computer. I was also wondering if this new moter would even work in this car. I do know that it is a v-tech motor. I don't know what specific motor he bought. PLEASE if anyone can give me some advice to get this car running like it should that would be great.

Re: Engine Swap for a Honda Civic (racerguy32v)
The motors most most likely an H22a4 depending on if the car was a USDM-->(handed out in the US)
look into an h series swap into an EK civic
PM me if you have issues

Yea plus, h22a in an EK? Can you say beastly? I was thinking about doing that to my car. I've read so much on it, but I think I'm leaning towards a built Ls-turbo...

Ya man just try typing in H22 on search and they can give you advice on swapping into an EK which would help you out a lot. The new motor will work in the car and fit just dont know if there are any sub harnesses you need or like anything different with the wiring exactly
