I hear Pacific performance does good work, but they are a bit expensive for my tastes. Why are you looking for a shop? I don't think it would be too hard of a feat to swap out a b16 or b18 for your d16...

If you have a good knowledge about the motors and think you could do alot of the work, just do what i did. When i was ready to put my B18 in i found someone that did a lot of swaps and gave him $150 to help me out. He did a lot of the wiring and other things i couldnt do and i came out a lot cheaper paying a shop to do it.

If you have some mechanical inclinations then it's pretty straight forward for a B=Series swap. You just need a couple of friends and a weekend.

PM turbogixxer. We are from Boca Raton, he's done a bunch of swaps with no problems, and of course I have participated in some of the swaps doing my best to help out. PM him. Only thing I can say is, don't go cheap on the swap...please do precausive maintenance on your motor. Replace as much as possible such as clutch and the "basic swap" stuff.

I just got a quote for 4,200 for a engine and trany swap... D series to D series.... anyone think this is alittle high

OMG!!! From D to D!?! That is just a bit of a rip... I would also suggest doing it yourself, you can get a b-series for under 4Gs and it's pretty much a direct swap in any case, just make sure you do the research on the motor you're going to swap in as far as emissions and stuff like that (as in which plugs and hoses control emissions) because most JDM engines (all of the best b-series motors) don't have alot of the emissions controls that we have in the US. My friend and I swapped an SR20DET into his 240SX and there were so many extra lines and wires laying around. "what's that for, are you sure that doesn't go anywhere?" "it's for emissions" "and what about that?" "emissions"..................... you can see where I'm going with this.....

Take it from me, I did and I turboed the B series too.

Yea its a power jump from the d but for the money spent it wasn't worth it. If I could redo it again I would stay with the D series, build the **** out of it, sleeves, pistons, rods, valvetrain, spare no expense and turbo the hell out of that. Less money spent than I did on the B motor plus turbo and it would have more power.

Seriously, please reconsider keeping the D. I know you want the B just so you can say you have it, its one of the reasons I did it too, but hindsight is a bitch and I wish I could go back. Not that I'm not happy with my setup, I just know that I could have built the D, stronger and faster for CHEAPER.

Here is the one thing that may make you change your mind. When you break something on the B motor, which you will, it is MUCH more expensive than the d series. For example, GSR tranny is about $700-750. A D16 tranny is about $200 or less. And harder sometimes to find.

Edit: if you still want a B motor, South Florida Performance can probably help.

Im willing to do the swap because the D-series is compleatly dead. If it was still running I wouldnt think about the swap, I would just beef up the D16y8. But since all is lost.... I might as well throw in the B

If you can wait til the spring you can buy mine. I'm swapping out my d16y8 for an h22.

80k miles, not a single gear grinds at all.
