Default engine swap

i've got a 1992 civiclx with a pos 1.5 that's blown. i'm looking at 3 different swaps, i can get a b16a1 a b18b or a d16z with similar mileages for about the same amount of money, this is without the tranny or ecu. wiring aside what would be the best to go with? would any bolt up to my tranny? any help would be great

the d16 will bolt up to your tranny, not recomeded though. tranys are usually geared for the motor. a differnt will give you a differnt power band.
depending on what you want to do there are differnt answers that i woudl give you?
going turbo?? i would gt the ls motor b18b
all motor i would say get the b16
there are many exceptions though. lsvtec, good all motor, motor.
and the b16 can also be good for turbo if build right. what is your main good with the car??
hope this helps a little bit.

For the money and HP, I'd have to say B16.

Sure it's a torque-less wonder, but IMHO, it's a far better platform from which to start your journey to the DOHC side.

What are your plans for the car? Just like you had it or do you want some power for the street?

I think redsin95's answer was the best overall: b18b for turbo applications or b16a1 for turbo or anything else. Both are great engines and have lots of potential.

Migs: he said nothing about a b20, how is even metioning it part of the discussion?

first off, where should i have posted this? secondly where do i get a b20? are they out of the crv? will my tranny bolt up to it or the others? i know it's not geared right, i think it's geared lower to compensate for the lack of power in the 1.5 so i'd just use it until i could find another. do i have to worry about the b16a1 because it's older? can i trust these engine importers to give me what they say. i live in grand rapids mi and there i've called every salvage yard in town and they have nothing. i want the car to be quick, but it's going to be a daily driver in the city. thanks for the help

ok, as i said before your tranny will fit a d16vtec that is the only motor that the tranny will fit. also dont' get a b16a1, get a b16a2 or 3 b16a1 is a cable tranny and is also an obd0 motor you need and obd1 or higher motorl. if you get a obd2 motor ou can compensate by using an obd1 ecu to controll that motor. sorry if i have lost you. but you can email or im me for more clear infomation, usually and engine inporter will give you what they say they are. they usually say motor trans adn ecu, you still need, wiring harnes, axles, and linkage. but those are not that big of a deal. if you are looking for best price and the best results, i woudl suggest getting an obd1 jdm b16 out of the civic SIR or integra xsi 170hp b16. that would be my sugestion.
