Engine swap
Just curious as to how much work would have to be done to get a crv/VTEC frankenstein to fit into del sol? Anyone know what i would need to make it fit or what i would need? Would it be alot easier to go with an ls/VTEC instead?
Please help

Re: Engine swap (j-bird)
Same **** either way dude. Both are b-series based blocks and are physically the same size. One just has an 81mm bore and the other has an 84mm bore.
Btw - Integra mounts are needed.

Re: Engine swap (94si94cx)
Why do an LS/VTEC? The bottom end isnt made for vtec. It doesnt have the squirters that shoot oil on the bottom of the piston, the oil pump is to small and the rods are much smaller than any of the other B series vtec engines. Same goes for the crvtec. You also cant forget the fact that by the time you have finished the swap you have spent the same amount of money you would have on a supperior gsr motor, if not more money. The other thing to think about is how you are going to do the fuel and VTEC tunning, most people cant tune their engine after adding an air intake let alone tune a new engine combination.

Re: Engine swap (civicrights)
I agree completely with this comment. I usually avoid pointing out the fact about both the b20z(b) and the b18b(a) not having the oil squirters though because some argue that you don't "need" them.
If you notice my signature, I have a b18c1 in my hatch. This was a decision I made after TONS of research and posting/reading in threads. I do love torque and do plan on doing a 2.0L engine, but I am staying away from the b20 block.
The b18c1 block is a block built for high rpms. It has an 81mm bore. If you bore it over to 84mm, it is a 2.0L block but still maintains the oil squirters and all necessary VTEC fittings. Resleaving is also a good idea in this setup.

Re: Engine swap (civicrights)
I also forgot to mention that you also need to change the oil pump to keep up with vtec, thus raising the price of the swap even more!
