Engine swap 2000 to 96
I have a 2000 honda civic with a d16y8 engine that finally dies on me so I bought an engine from ebay since I couldnt find one locally.
The engine numbers match but the manifold did not.
I contacted them and received an intake that fits but the wireing is different.
I dont work on cars and the mechanic isnt sure he can make it work.
Is there 2 different d16y8 engines for the 2000 civic?
They said it came out of a 2000 civic just like mine.
Is there any way to make this work or do I send it all back and start over?
This is the new one they sent.

That is the old one.

It is not easy to see the old one but you can see what I am talking about.
If the new engine is a 96-98 is there a way to make it work or is it better to send it back and start over?

the auto and manual have different intakes. may be as easy as swapping intake manis. use the harness from the car its goin in and you should be fine.

Did the Ebay seller say what year Civic (the motor you bought) was out of? If the new Ebay motor is from a 96'-98' then you will need to swap out its 96'-98' intake manifod for your 00'. I did a 00' D16Y8 swap into a 96' EX a while back (rod knock) and that's what I had to do. The 00' intake mani wiring was a bit different so I went and swapped it out to my 96' manifold. Coulda just been that the 00' may have been out of an AUTOmatic Civic though. Hope this helps...

'96 - '98 D16Y8s use a different intake manifold than '99 - '00 (the '99 - '00 versions have a cold start assist/air injection setup on them. And as everyone else has said automatic and manual versions differ in terms of the IACV. You should be fine if you reuse your old intake manifold though.

I did like some said and sealed the air ports and put the engine in.
The engine runs great but the engine light came on.
Does anyone know a work around to get the light off.
