engine running crappy when hot

does anyone know why my b18c5 in my 92 hatch runs like crap (can barely stay running) when the temps are above 26C? When the weather is moderate the car runs great. Could it be the intake air temperature is being affected by the engine bay heat? It almost behaves like the engine is missing a spark every now and then and it idles really really low and makes like an exhaust popping noise.

There is definitely no pinging or metallic rapping of the sort so I know its not b/c of bad octane fuel.

Thanks

spray windex on the tops of the spark plug wires and where the wires connect to the distributor as the engine is running. your wires may be arcing for some reason. this happened to me only when engine was warned up. happend when i bought brand new wires from dealership. << never thought it was the plug wires since they were new. they were changed out with new ones due to warranty and everything is fine.

see what happens if it still happens
check your iac valve,
vacuum valve by brake booster,
check all vacuum lines,
new spark plugs,
new distributor car and rotor,
