Default Engine overheats while driving but not at idle??

I've got to head over to a buddy's house tomorrow... he has a 92 DX w/ a b16a2 in it that he recently swapped... He said that its overheating while driving now.... He tried both his mugen thermostat and his OEM thermostat, and same thing... It doesn't overheat while idling, only while driving... He says there are no air pockets in the cooling system... Suggestions?

Check compression, check oil for coolant, check collant for oil, does the exhaust smell funny, going waterpump, radiator is too small.

also feel the lower radiator hose to make sure coolant is passimg through into the motor....it should be warm but not hot as the upper should be... if its cold u could have an air pocket still

had him try to run it without a t-stat and still heated up... DOesn't heat up if you rev it at a stop and hold it, only under load..

I do remember hearing a noise sounding like a bad bearing coming from the timing belt... He said it was the Timing belt tensioner, but now that I think about it, sounds like he has the timing belt too tight and it may have fubar'd the water pump... Possibly?

Also, his radiator was sitting outside for a year before he installed it, so it could be all clogged up... But I'm thinkin its the water pump.

fixed it... dumbass was having a problem with his fan plug when he did the swap, so he hard wired the fan, and wired it backwards... dumbass... I swapped the wires and BADA BING! Much better...

Yes, your radiator fan is broken.

I'm not familiar with your generation civic but the 1992-2000 civic has 2 fans, one for the ac and one for the radiator. If your fan is only functioning with the ac there is a problem with the fan either receiving power, or turning on
