Recently came upon this problem with my 99 civic hatchback, when I turn my a/c on for like 30 min straight or drive for a long distance with the a/c on my temperature needle will go up then fall back down to normal? All my maintenance is all up to date also, what can it be?

---------------------------------

Check the coolant level in the radiator and then bleed the system.

agreed make sure you have coolant in the radiator because i know that if i use my ac a lot the coolant will overflow into the overflow and my car will begin to overheat

Did you check to make sure the Fans are coming on? Get the car up to temp. Then pop the hood and turn on the AC both fans should be blowing. You could have a bad cooling fan. Fan relay etc.

Default A/C fan and engine fan question?

When my a/c is turned on my a/c fan turns on but my other fan isn't turning on even when its at operating temps,is this normal or should both fans turn on at once?I think that one of the fans that's not working, is causing my temperature gauge to rise, what do you guys think?

Does the A/C work fine? Are you losing coolant? Is both the radiator and reservoir topped off with coolant? Is this how you bled the cooling system:

Bleeding the cooling system may take 20-30 minutes.

1) Park the car on an inclined driveway with the front end higher than the rear.

2) Push/turn the dash heater lever/**** to MAX heat. Fan need not be on.

3) Follow the directions in the diagram below

The radiator fan and condenser fan are controlled separately. Try bleeding the system again as detailed in the diagram above.

Thanks again for your help Ron, A/c works perfect, coolant topped off in both the radiator & reservoir.Do I actually turn on the heater or just have the heather **** turn to the max position?

In essence, you want the heater valve on the firewall fully open so that coolant can move through the heater core and eliminate any air trapped inside. Therefore, the blower can be off.
